Boaters Rescued After Capsizing Incident at Barnegat Inlet

Multiple marine agencies and good Samaritans responded quickly to rescue a number of passengers who were rescued Sunday afternoon after their boat capsized just beyond the Barnegat Inlet.

Around 12:45 p.m., according to officials, a neighboring boater radioed the U.S. Coast Guard to report that a vessel had capsized outside the inlet's breakers, triggering the emergency. Sea Tow Central New Jersey, TowBoatUS Barnegat Light and Beach Haven, the Coast Guard, and a number of personal watercraft operators responded to the distress call in unison.
According to authorities, all passengers were checked out and accounted for without suffering any significant injuries.

Later, with help from Sea Tow Central New Jersey, TowboatUS recovered the upturned boat, which was about 25 feet long, from the surf zone. The ship was safely hauled away from the breakers by the crews.
