Fast-Moving Storm to Bring Snow and Ice to NJ During Christmas Week>
The most recent forecast calls for sections of New Jersey to be covered in snow and a layer of ice this week, right before Christmas.
The
National Weather Service predicts that snowfall will begin after midnight on Monday and cease by early Tuesday afternoon.
Forecasters predicted that the majority of the state would receive less than an inch of snow, although higher altitudes in the northwest quadrant would receive one to three inches.
The National Weather Service forecasters stated that "there is still a degree of uncertainty on how far south any measurable snowfall will occur into the Philly metro, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware," though. Forecasters stated that a full inch of snow may be "a reasonable worst case scenario" for Central Jersey.
There may be a wintry mix, or snow that turns into rain as it falls, further south in the state, but there won't likely be any noticeable snowfall.
Forecasters predicted minimal precipitation and nothing noteworthy.
The National Weather Service forecasts stated, "With that said, snow falling Tuesday morning could certainly cause travel issues and slippery/icy roads despite the light snowfall amounts."
Conditions will revert to being seasonally dry and chilly when this system passes.
"Christmas Day should be a decent day overall with no significant weather, but a weak clipper system passing through could bring some brief light rain or sprinkles (flurries possible up north) in the morning," forecasters from the National Weather Service said.
Forecasters caution that the future becomes quite unpredictable after Christmas. There will be a system that brings precipitation. Forecasters are unsure if there will be a lot of snow, rain, or anything in between. Keep up-to-date and check the latest weather at
