Ocean County families have a meaningful and memorable opportunity this fall as registration opens Friday, September 4 for the Fishing for Sean — Sean Smida Memorial Kids Fishing Clinic, a hands‑on educational program honoring the legacy of young angler Sean Smida.
Designed for ages 12–16, the clinic gives kids a chance to experience the excitement of the Fall Run at Island Beach State Park while learning directly from professional fisherman Scott Thomas. Participants will travel by van from Cattus Island County Park to the beach, where they’ll learn how to choose the right baits, hooks, rods, and reels to land a keeper.
No prior fishing experience is needed — all supplies and bait are provided by Grumpy’s Bait & Tackle. Kids should bring a packed lunch, water, boots, and a change of clothes. Because this is an outdoor program, it is weather‑dependent.
