Major New Jersey Movie Theater Chain Announces Location Closures
This week, company management issued a warning that one of the biggest chains of movie theaters in New Jersey intends to close further locations as it continues to struggle with weak post-pandemic box office results.
The largest movie theater chain in the world,
AMC, said during its Tuesday earnings call that attendance fell by about 10% in the last quarter of 2025 compared to the same period the previous year.
AMC's stock fell to a multi-year low of $1.16 on Monday as a result of the report, according to
Deadline.
The corporation, which now has roughly 850 stores after closing 213 during the previous five years, likewise issued a grim warning in response.
The leases at about 85 locations are up for renewal this year, according to Chief Financial Officer Sean Goodman. Executives will examine such locations to decide if renewing them or closing any particular location would be more financially advantageous.
