According to preliminary information verified by local officials and scanner reports, a 17-year-old was shot Wednesday night at the Ocean County Mall.

The victim was a 17-year-old teenager who was being transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Initial scanner reports described the suspect as a male wearing black Nike Air Force sneakers, gray sweatpants, and a gray sweater. The individual was reportedly seen fleeing the area in a gray or black sedan.
