According to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, a woman was killed on Wednesday after being struck with a baseball bat in Camden.

After being taken into custody, Camden resident Enoch Rembert, 28, is accused with first-degree murder and third-degree possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.
Emergency personnel arrived at the intersection of 5th Street and Bailey Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. in response to a report of an unconscious woman in the road.

At 12:24 a.m. on Thursday, Lisa Mellet, 51, of Camden, passed away at Cooper University Hospital.

The medical examiner declared her death to be a homicide later on Thursday, citing blunt abdominal trauma as the cause of death.
The surveillance tape that detectives were able to get showed Rembert walking to the intersection of 5th Street and Erie Street, where he repeatedly struck Mellet with the bat.

After that, he strolled to the intersection of Bailey Street and Fifth Street, where he passed out.

After being placed under arrest, Rembert was sent to the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Officials noted that Mellet and Rembert were acquainted from the neighborhood.
