April 23, 2026
Chilly Temperatures and Widespread Rain Are Coming to New Jersey
Beginning Saturday morning and lasting into Saturday night, a storm system from the west will bring widespread rain showers to New Jersey. Unseasonably cold temperatures and 1 to 1.5 inches of rain are predicted throughout most of the state.
According to the
National Weather Service, the likelihood of rain will rise after midnight on Friday, peaking on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Under gusty, easterly winds, highs will only reach the mid-40s to upper 50s.
In late April, New Jersey often has highs in the middle to upper 60s.
With low temperatures falling into the 40s and 50s, there will be more clouds on Friday night as a strong east wind builds.
With rain moving throughout the state from west to east during the morning and afternoon with temperatures only reaching the high 40s to low 50s, Saturday will be the wettest day of the weekend.
The strongest rainfall is anticipated in northern New Jersey, which includes the region north of the Philadelphia metro.
Sunday morning will see a decrease in showers; near the coast, there may be a lingering shower into Sunday afternoon, with afternoon highs in the 50s.
As the storm system moves away, Monday appears to be dry with improving weather; however, seas around the coast will stay high at 5 to 7 feet before progressively dropping.
Early next week, temperatures will start to drop, but from Tuesday through Thursday, another storm system will bring more rain showers to the region.
