Tragic Accident Claims Life of NJ Crossing Guard and Injures Two Children
A crossing guard has lost her life, and the two children she was assisting in crossing the street are now hospitalized following an accident in Passaic County, according to officials.
On Monday at approximately 3:30 p.m., law enforcement was summoned to the intersection of McBride and Lackawanna avenues in Woodland Park after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Authorities found that an 80-year-old crossing guard from Woodland Park, along with two children, were hit by a car while at a crosswalk, as stated by the police.
The crossing guard was quickly transported to a local hospital, where she was declared deceased, as reported by the police.
Additionally, the two children were taken to the hospital and were reported to be in stable condition as of Tuesday morning, officials stated.
The driver stayed at the crash site, and currently, no criminal charges have been filed.
