Due to the deaths of his parents, Eugene Mulgrew, 71, and Cheryl Mulgrew, 69, Michael Mulgrew, 37, was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison and 30 years without the possibility of release.
They intended to take him to a mental health facility on the day he fatally killed his parents.
Around 11 a.m. on November 2, police showed up at the Lincoln Avenue residence to help medical staff conduct a mobile outreach, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
According to Billhimer, officers noticed a man leaving the house as they got closer. Michael Mulgrew was that man.
