The North Bergen Police Department is celebrating a major achievement as two of its K9 teams have officially completed their latest round of certification.

Cpl. Ted Wiellichoski and K9 Brooks, along with Officer David Corbisero and K9 Rex, successfully earned certification in Patrol Operations and Narcotics Detection—a milestone that reflects months of intensive training, discipline, and teamwork.

Both K9s underwent a rigorous program totaling hundreds of hours of hands-on instruction, scenario-based exercises, and real-world readiness drills. Their training was led by Sheriff Investigator James Riley, whose expertise continues to support K9 units across the region.

These certifications ensure that Brooks and Rex are fully prepared to assist in patrol duties, suspect tracking, building searches, narcotics detection, and other critical operations that help keep communities safe.

Local officials praised the accomplishment, noting that highly trained K9 teams play an essential role in modern policing—enhancing officer safety, improving response capabilities, and strengthening public trust.
