Federal Agent and His Wife Found Shot Dead in Their New Jersey Home in Suspected Murder‑Suicide

A federal agent and his wife were both found dead at their home in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

Authorities are investigating a tragic incident in which a federal agent and his wife were found shot dead inside their New Jersey home in what officials believe was a murder‑suicide.

According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, officers were called to the couple’s residence in Plainsboro on Sunday afternoon for a welfare check. Upon entering the home, police discovered 47‑year‑old federal agent Michael “Mike” Palladino and his wife, 44‑year‑old Jennifer Palladino, both suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say early evidence points to a murder‑suicide, though the case remains under active review. No additional suspects are being sought.

Neighbors described the couple as quiet, private, and devoted to their two children, who were not home at the time of the incident. The children are currently staying with relatives.

About Michael Palladino

Michael Palladino served as a federal law enforcement agent for more than two decades, known among colleagues for his professionalism, calm demeanor, and dedication to public service. Friends say he was “the type of agent everyone wanted on their team.”

He grew up in New Jersey, graduated from Rutgers University, and spent his career working in various federal investigative units. Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing along the Jersey Shore and spending weekends with his family.

About Jennifer Palladino

Jennifer was a beloved mother, friend, and community volunteer. She worked in early childhood education and was known for her warm personality and ability to make children feel safe and supported. She loved gardening, baking, and hosting family gatherings.

Friends described her as “the heart of the home” and someone who “always put others first.”
