Ocean County’s “Bunker Challenge” Returns July 25

Ocean County is gearing up for one of its most beloved summer traditions — The Bunker Challenge Crabbing Contest, returning to Mantoloking Bridge County Park in Brick on Saturday, July 25, from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Hosted on behalf of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners, the event invites families, friends, and crabbers of all experience levels to enjoy a day on the water and test their skills in a friendly competition.

The contest is free to enter, with participants divided into two age groups:

• 12 & Under
• 13 & Up

All contestants will receive complimentary bunker bait provided by Jenkinson’s Aquarium, making the event accessible even for first‑timers. Attendees only need to bring their crabbing gear — and maybe a little luck.

Mantoloking Bridge County Park, located at 70 Herbert St., Brick, NJ, is a popular waterfront spot known for its scenic views and excellent crabbing conditions. The park’s accessibility and family‑friendly atmosphere make it an ideal setting for this annual summer challenge.
