

John Patrick Forrester, 61, passed away on July 19, 2026.
Born on May 6, 1965, in Jersey City, John grew up in Brick and Toms River. Known to everyone as “Jake,” he attended Toms River High School South, where he played baseball and football. He loved playing sports throughout his childhood and teenage years, and he carried many great stories and memories from those days with him throughout his life.
For more than 30 years, Jake proudly owned and operated Jersey Mike’s Subs locations in Lakewood and Jackson, New Jersey. Through his business, he became a familiar and beloved presence in the community, forming countless friendships over the years.
Jake was truly the life of every party. He had a natural ability to connect with people and could get along with anyone he met. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, warm heart, kindness, and extraordinary generosity. Jake brought laughter and energy wherever he went and always had a great story from the past to share. He had a way of making those around him feel welcome and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Forrester, and his brother, Tom Forrester.
Jake is survived by his mother, Marjorie Forrester; his children, Cali Forrester and John Forrester and his wife, Khristary Forrester; his cherished granddaughter, Morgan Forrester; his siblings, Denise Coraggio and her partner Henry Lang, Christine Roeschke and her husband, Herb Roeschke, Doug Forrester and his wife, Crissy Forrester; and his sister-in-law, Jodi Forrester. He is also survived by many extended family members and lifelong friends.
Jake’s larger-than-life personality, generous spirit, love of family and friends, and ability to bring people together will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755, US, on July 22, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
