EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A Pleasantville man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he stabbed two people during a violent early‑morning attack on Fire Road.

Egg Harbor Township Police responded to the 2700 block of Fire Road at 3:42 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, after receiving a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived to find two victims suffering multiple stab wounds to the face and body. Both were rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with severe but non‑life‑threatening injuries.

Investigators identified 36‑year‑old Carlos Garcia‑Moreno of Pleasantville as the suspect. Roughly six hours after the attack, Garcia‑Moreno turned himself in to police, according to CBS News. He was taken into custody and transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he awaits a detention hearing.

Charges

Garcia‑Moreno faces 13 criminal counts, including:

  • Two counts of attempted murder
  • Two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon
  • Three counts of endangering the welfare of a child
  • Home invasion burglary
  • Possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Terroristic threats

Investigation

The case remains under active investigation by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Atlantic City Police Department, and Hamilton Township Police. Detectives Sgt. Brett Fair, Patrick Daly, and Officer Tahsin Chowdhury are leading the investigation.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the motive or circumstances that led to the attack.
