Recall Alert: Outshine Bars May Contain Glass Pieces
Outshine Fruit Bars are being voluntarily recalled by their parent company after the FDA reported finding glass shards in some products.
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, which owns Outshine, said the contamination is limited to select flavors: strawberry, watermelon, grape, tangerine and black cherry.
The recall includes 6-packs of 2.5-ounce fruit bars, as well as 24-count packages of the 2.5-ounce bars.
Outshine bars have been sold at supermarkets, grocery stores and retailers throughout New Jersey and across the country.
The FDA said Dreyer’s initiated the recall as a precaution after receiving reports from consumers who found glass in the products.
So far, no illnesses or injuries have been reported. Consumers who may have purchased the recalled bars should throw them away or return them to the retailer for a full refund. Anyone who believes they may have been injured should seek medical attention promptly.
The FDA said no other Outshine products are affected by the recall.
Officials have not determined how glass entered the affected fruit bars. An investigation is ongoing.
