Search Continues for Missing Clammer in Sandy Hook Bay

A clammer remains missing in Sandy Hook Bay as the search continued Monday evening, according to Atlantic Highlands Police. Authorities identified the missing man as a 64-year-old Pennsylvania resident. His boat was discovered around 10:45 a.m. Monday near the SeaStreak ferry terminal in Atlantic Highlands.

The vessel was found unoccupied and appeared to be a commercial clamming boat, prompting authorities to begin searching for the man.

A large police and first-responder presence was reported at the Atlantic Highlands marina throughout the day. Residents also reported seeing an NYPD helicopter flying at a low altitude over the municipal marina.

The New Jersey State Police have since taken over the search effort.
