Jason Chee absolutely crushed his first-ever storm report.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — When a powerful nor’easter rolled up the Jersey Shore this weekend, one Intermediate East student wasn’t just watching the weather — he was reporting it.

Jason Chee, a well-known weather buff and aspiring storm chaser, headed out with his mom to survey the coastline as winds strengthened and waves pounded the shore. Their timing couldn’t have been better. CBS crews, including veteran reporter Christine Sloan, arrived to cover the storm — and immediately noticed Jason’s passion for meteorology.

Jason’s mom introduced him as a “future storm chaser,” and Sloan didn’t hesitate. She handed Jason the CBS microphone 🎤 and encouraged him to deliver his very own on-camera storm report. According to his mom, Jason “completely lit up,” delivering a confident, enthusiastic weather assessment that impressed everyone on scene.

The moment was captured on video and shared by the Toms River Regional School District — and Jason has reportedly been talking about the experience nonstop ever since. It’s not every day a middle schooler gets to file a storm report for a major news network.
