Suspect Arrested After Shooting at New Jersey Wawa

SICKLERVILLE, NJ — A 20-year-old Sicklerville man was arrested after a fight at a Wawa convenience store ended with two people being shot, including the suspect himself, authorities said.

Marcus L. Norman faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

Winslow Township police were called to the Wawa at 400 Sicklerville Road around 9 p.m. Sunday following reports of a shooting.

Officers found Norman suffering from a gunshot wound at the store. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.

A second 20-year-old man later arrived at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital after being shot. He was subsequently transferred to Cooper University Hospital.

According to authorities, surveillance footage captured Norman and the other man arguing inside the Wawa before the confrontation became physical. Officials said Norman threw the first punch, escalating the dispute into a fight.

Authorities said Norman then pulled out a handgun and shot the other man before also shooting himself in the left hand.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Norman Tuesday morning, and he was subsequently taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office at (856) 225-3073 or the Winslow Township Police Department at (609) 667-3389.
