Another Snow Storm?
New Jersey is anticipated to get another bout of snow this weekend, with coastal flooding and high wind gusts in the forecast.
The National Weather Service predicts 1 to 3 inches of snow around I-95, and 3 to 4 inches in locations further northwest. On Sunday night, the increasing snow could combine with sleet before turning to rain.
The weather service's New York office, which serves Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, and Union counties, forecasted 6 to 8 inches of snow in western Passaic County. Other parts of Passaic, as well as a region of western Bergen, have received 4-to-6 inches of rain, according to the weather service. 1 to 3 inches of snow is anticipated in Essex and Hudson counties.
A minor shift off the coast, according to AccuWeather meteorologists, could bring more snow for the Garden State.
"I-95 cities from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston could get buried under snow with little or no rain and ice mixed in," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Bill Deger said.
The Jersey Shore will not see snow but continues to be the most vulnerable to damaging winds. North winds gusting up to 30 mph will develop throughout the day on Saturday.
Coastal flooding is probable with this storm, though the storm is expected to move quickly across New Jersey, according to the weather service. Rain should stop by early Monday afternoon, according to forecasters.
