According to the Asbury Park Press, this weekend, the Garden State may receive up to a foot of snow in some places, and there's a chance the Jersey Shore will receive some much-needed snowfall as well.

Eric Hoeflich, a National Weather Service meteorologist at Mt. Holly, says a cold front will move in on Thursday night and bring a blast of chilly air starting on Friday and Saturday. The source of the cold air mass for the approaching storm will then be somewhat below average temperatures.

The main concern for many people in New Jersey, given the possibility of a winter storm this weekend, is how much snowfall we might expect.

In a nutshell, it's too early to say. Forecasters who keep an eye on the most recent computer guidance models and weather trends estimate that New Jersey may receive anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow, or anything in between.

According to the National Weather Service, the main guidance models' most recent trend points to more rain and less snow across the majority of the Garden State.

However, colder air would push eastward as the storm tracks farther offshore, increasing the likelihood of more snowfall in central and eastern New Jersey.
