Motorcyclist in Stable Condition

On Monday, a motorcycle rider from Toms River was hurt when it collided with a vehicle on Manchester's Ridgeway Road.

According to Manchester Police, Capt. Vincent Manco, Tyler Applegate, 31, of Toms River, was listed as stable on Tuesday at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Manco said that Applegate was traveling east on Ridgeway Road at about 8:20 p.m. on Monday.

The Dodge Challenger being driven by Thomas Mangan, 38, of Manchester, was struck by the motorcycle as it was turning left onto Alberta Street while traveling west on Ridgeway Road, according to Manco. According to him, the accident caused Applegate to be flung from the motorcycle and land in the westbound shoulder.

Mangan and a child who was riding in his car weren't hurt, according to Manco.

The Ridgeway Fire Department, Manchester Township EMS, and Robert Wood Johnson paramedics all provided assistance on the scene.

During the course of the investigation, the road was shut down in both directions for a number of hours. Michael Anderson, a patrolman with the department's Traffic Safety division, is looking into it.
