Big Changes Coming to Toms River Walmart on Route 37
TOMS RIVER — Walmart is moving forward with plans to expand its Route 37 location, bringing a larger grocery section and several other upgrades to the store.
The Toms River Planning Board recently approved the retailer’s proposal for a 48,190-square-foot addition on the west side of the existing building. The store, one of five Walmart locations in Ocean County, currently spans 131,726 square feet, including its garden center.
The expansion will provide additional space for groceries and create a dedicated staging area for online orders and deliveries. Walmart representatives told the Planning Board that the project will also modernize the store, improve the overall layout and add additional signage to help customers navigate the facility.
