A man's body was discovered floating about 1,000 yards from the Monmouth Cove Marina in Port Monmouth.

It was a passerby who noticed the body floating just offshore around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 and called Middletown police, who then called the Coast Guard, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard.

The man's body was recovered by the US Coast Guard from its Sandy Hook base. The individual has been identified as Ahmad Badran, 25, of Staten Island, according to the State Police.

His specific cause of death has yet to be known, since the results of an autopsy are still pending.
