Body Washes Ashore

In the midst of a search for a boater missing for more than a week, a body washed ashore in Point Pleasant Beach from the Manasquan Inlet on Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.

News12 New Jersey reported it could not be confirmed as of Saturday night if it was the body of Derek Narby, a 21-year-old Brick resident who has been missing since the boat he was traveling in overturned in the Manasquan Inlet on September 14th.

Authorities reported that the body was found in Point Pleasant Beach at about 2:45 p.m. in the Manasquan Inlet.

Since the 31-foot boat, known as the Kaboom, capsized when it was hit by a wave amid choppy seas from Hurricane Lee, Derek Narby has been the focus of marine searches.

Parts of the boat came ashore as far south as Seaside Heights as the boat broke apart.

On the boat, Narby's father and brother were rescued from the inlet while clinging to a cooler.

Rescue of Two Boaters

Since his disappearance, a temporary tribute to Narby with inscriptions, candles, and flowers has been created on the Point Pleasant Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet. Additionally, a GofundMe page has been created to collect funds for the missing man's family.
