The search for a man missing since a boat capsized in Manasquan Inlet has picked up again, according to the New Jersey State Police. He is from Brick Township.
According to Sgt. Philip Curry on Monday, the missing boater has been identified as 21-year-old Brick resident Derek Narby.
Curry reported that no one has yet managed to find him.
The search for Narby was reopened on Monday morning when the stern of the 31-foot boat was discovered in about 30 feet of water off the north jetty of Manasquan Inlet on Sunday, according to Curry.
According to state police, the 31-foot yacht sank Thursday night after being struck by "large seas."
Manasquan Mayor Edward Donovan told the Asbury Park Press on Friday that the father and one son had been rescued. Narby was on board with his father and sibling.
The boat capsized near Manasquan Inlet on Thursday night, according to News 12 New Jersey, because of the extremely powerful waves present. A life raft was visible in footage from
News 12 that was floating in the water off the entrance. According to News 12 New Jersey, a buoy close by recorded a 10-foot wave.
