Coastal Flood Warning & Wind Advisory

ROADWAYS FLOODED USE CAUTION

According to the Toms River Police Department, motorists, please use caution while driving through town this weekend. We have been experiencing numerous flooding issues.

Potential problem areas include but are not limited to:
  • Water & Irons Street CLOSED
  • Exit 81 both directions CLOSED
  • Windsor east of Fischer CLOSED
  • Merrimac & Lookout CLOSED
  • Green Island - Numerous problem areas
  • Barrier Island - Numerous Problem areas

    If you see a road that seems to be flooded, DO NOT attempt to drive through it. DO NOT attempt to drive around barricades that are blocking a flooded piece of road. Make a U-turn and look for a detour. There's a reason it's closed. Don't wreck your car or put your life in danger.

    Take precautions.
  • COASTAL FLOOD WARNING

    IMPACTS...At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible.

    * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most significant flooding is likely to occur in the back bays where water is likely to remain trapped at least through Saturday.

    A Coastal Flood Warning means that moderate or major tidal flooding is occurring or imminent. Be prepared for rising water levels and take appropriate action to protect life and property. Follow the recommendations of local emergency management officials.

    Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs.

    WIND ADVISORY

    * WHAT...East winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
    * WHERE...Coastal Ocean, Southeastern Burlington, Ocean, Eastern Monmouth and Western Monmouth.
    * WHEN...Until 2 AM EDT Saturday.
    * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
