Daylight Saving Time Reminder: Turn Back Your Clocks This Weekend!

Daylight Saving Time

It's time to fall back, whether you're ready or not.

After months of long days and plenty of sunshine, daylight saving time — or DST, as it's also known — will expire on Sunday, Nov. 5. This means you'll get an extra hour of sleep or another hour out on the town before going to bed and putting the clocks back an hour.

It also entails getting used to decreased sunshine in the evenings. The sun will set at 4:50 p.m. in New Jersey on November 5.

As we approach the winter solstice on December 21, the days will continue to get shorter.

Then, until the summer solstice on June 21, 2024, the length of the days will begin to lengthen.

On the first Sunday in November, clocks "fall back" to 1 a.m. from 2 a.m.

According to almanac.com, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 2:00 A.M. On Saturday night, clocks are set back 1 hour (i.e., gaining one hour) to “fall back.” Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour earlier on Nov 5, 2023, than the day before. There will be more light in the morning.

Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 2:00 A.M. On Saturday night, clocks are set forward 1 hour (i.e., losing one hour) to “spring forward.” Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour later on March 10, 2024, than the day before. There will be more light in the evening.
