Customers Run for Cover as Shots Ring Out in NJ Chick-fil-A

UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A tragic shooting inside a busy Chick-fil-A restaurant left one person dead and at least six others injured, according to early reports from local authorities and witness accounts.

Union Township police responded to the restaurant after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire erupting inside the dining area. When officers arrived, they found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while six others were transported to nearby hospitals with varying injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses as they work to determine a motive and identify the shooter. No arrests had been announced as of Sunday evening.

The restaurant, located in a high‑traffic commercial area, was crowded at the time of the incident. Several customers described chaos as people ran for cover when shots were fired.

Union Township officials urged the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues. More details are expected to be released as law enforcement confirms additional information.
