Deer Falls From Garden State Parkway Overpass in Paramus, Smashes Into SUV and Traps Driver.
A 44‑year‑old Hackensack woman was trapped inside her SUV Tuesday night after a deer plunged from a Garden State Parkway overpass and crashed directly onto her vehicle in Paramus, police said.
The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. as the woman was driving northbound in the right lane of Paramus Road. According to Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti, the deer fell from the overpass and struck the roof and driver‑side area of her 2025 Hyundai Tucson, causing the door frame to collapse inward and pin the driver inside.

Paramus Police Officer Joseph Mastrofilipo assisted the woman as she worked to free herself from the damaged vehicle. Despite the violent impact, she suffered non‑life‑threatening injuries and is expected to recover. No other vehicles were involved. The deer was found dead at the scene.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
