Excavator Lands on Car After Falling Off Trailer

Luckily, No Injuries Were Reported

According to Toms River Police Department, at about 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, police units were summoned to the intersection of Whitesville Road and Route 70 for a reported motor vehicle accident. 

Christoph Caches, 56, of Toms River, said he was carrying a trailer loaded with an excavator west on Route 70 when he made a right turn onto Whitesville Road. His trailer fell over as he made the turn, and the excavator landed on a vehicle stopped on Whitesville Road for a red light.

The accident resulted in no injuries to either driver. A summons was issued to Mr. Caches for Careless Driving. Officer Ryan Fitzgerald of Toms River Traffic Safety is still investigating the accident.
