Exciting New Arrival at Cape May County Zoo

Dr. Stephen Wallace, often known as Wally, is a new red panda at Cape May County Park and Zoo. On Tuesday, the zoo celebrated his first birthday.

Wally came from Zoo Knoxville in May. According to the county, he was born on June 3 in a litter of two males.
Wally is visible to visitors every day in the panda yard in the back, but according to the zoo, he is free to enter his building whenever he wants.

The other red panda at the zoo, Ember, is still in the front panda yard. According to the county, the two animals will soon be introduced in accordance with the Red Panda Species Survival Plan program's recommendations.

The Red Panda Species Survival Plan also recommended that Aurora, the zoo's former resident red panda, relocate to another zoo.

According to the county, Wally was named for a paleontologist who found red panda fossils at the Gray Fossil Site in East Tennessee. The red pandas of Asia descended from those fossils.
Keepers characterize Wally as inquisitive and daring. According to the county, he likes socializing with his new keepers and trying out new furniture and enrichment items, especially when treats are involved.

Every day, the Cape May County Parks and Zoo are open. According to the county, the zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the parks are open from 7 a.m. to sunset. You may get more details at CMCZoo.com.
