Leaf Collection

The State Recycling Act prohibits the land filling of leaves. Leaves (not including grass clippings or yard waste) will be collected curbside in the spring and fall. The actual pickup dates for neighborhoods will be advertised in the local media (Comcast School Channel 21, WJRZ, WOBM radio and a notice is posted on the Toms River Township website and Facebook).

If you do not compost, place leaves in plastic bags at curbside prior to the Monday of your designated leaf collection week. In the event that we are ahead of schedule, you may see leaf trucks in your area on an unscheduled week. Be assured that we will be back on your scheduled weeks.

• If your recycling day is on a Monday ….  Your leaf collection weeks start Nov. 2nd and Nov. 30^th   
• If your recycling day is on Tuesday….     Your leaf collection weeks start Nov. 2nd and Dec. 7^th 
• If your recycling day is on Wednesday….Your leaf collection weeks start Nov. 9^th and Dec. 14^th  
• If your recycling day is on Thursday.....    Your leaf collection weeks start Nov. 16^th and Dec. 21st 

Have leaf bags curbside by 6:30 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week. Only leaves in bags will be collected. Sometimes we are ahead of schedule. You should put your bagged leaves to the curb before your scheduled week begins. We may come early. However, we will still come through your area once again during your scheduled collection week.

Leaves are not permitted in landfill. If you miss the curbside collection, bagged or loose leaves must be brought to the Recycling Convenience Center, which is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wood chips and leaf mulch are available to residents at the Recycling Convenience Center.
