According to the New Jersey State Police, a 29-year-old Point Pleasant resident was struck and killed on Tuesday while he was standing in a grassy area off the Garden State Parkway.

According to state police, Kody Lupich was struck after stepping out of a disabled car on the Parkway.

About seven in the morning on Tuesday, while a snowfall was passing through the area, troopers were summoned to the incident in the northbound lanes near milepost 109.1 in Tinton Falls.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Lupich was struck by a driver who lost control of a Honda that was heading north on the Parkway in that vicinity and went off the highway to the left.
