Jersey Shore 2.0
The MTV show would be a reboot of the original series.
According to a source, MTV is planning to introduce a fresh cast of beach-going roommates to the Jersey Shore for a relaunch of the show that made Snooki and her friends famous in 2009.
According to sources,
495 Productions attempts to obtain authorization to film the new show have so far been denied in two places.
According to the Asbury Park Press, Seaside Heights, where the 2009 edition was filmed, "informally told" the producers of the show that the borough would not accept filming of a reality show over the summer.
Also according to reports, Lavallette also turned down the filming request.
Deadline, a Hollywood news website, confirmed the reboot, dubbed Jersey Shore 2.0. The gang "traded their poofs for plumped pouts and UV rays for spray tans," according to the show's synopsis, "but when things heat up in Jersey, the Shore is still the place to be to make memories all summer long."
The denials come as no surprise. Because of the group's wild antics, which included a major fight at the Bamboo Bar in June 2012 that resulted in arrests and assault charges being filed, towns throughout Ocean County have been hesitant to welcome the productions in the years since the original "Jersey Shore" aired from 2009 to 2012.
Since then, the original cast has largely settled down and only sometimes makes headlines. Nicole Polizzi, aka Snooki, and her husband, Jhionni Lavalle, have three children and a
vacation house in Toms River. She owns a
clothing boutique that will open its third location in Seaside Heights this summer.
