Fire in Toms River on Orchid Court

Two People Escaped

At approximately 10:20 am, Toms River Fire Department Company #1 were dispatched to the area of Orchid Court in Toms River.

Two people escaped injury after calling 911 but unfortunately their pets perished in a fire, police said.

First arriving units found heavy fire throughout a 3 story townhome. Engine 2501 arrived and stretched to the third floor of the adjacent unit. The fire had already started running the attic when the crew opened up and halted the fire spread, holding it to one unit. 2525,2511, and 2510 also responded from Co1.

The American Red Cross was on scene and provided support for the now displaced family.

Police said the cause of the fire is under investigation by Toms River Fire Inspector Charles Bauer, but is not deemed suspicious at this time.
