Free Turkeys will be Offered for Toms River Residents in Need on Friday, November 19

FREE Turkeys

Families in need will be able to acquire free turkeys on Friday during the township's usual weekly food distribution at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.

According to Councilman Terrance Turnbach, Fulfill, previously the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, is contributing 1,000 turkeys to be distributed. Food is distributed in the parking lot of the church, which is situated at 1070 Hooper Ave.

The distribution Friday is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River on Hooper Avenue. Drive in and volunteers will put the food in your trunk or back seat. Recipients do not have to present any identification or give their name.

Turnbach said, "We worked with Fulfill and we'll have 1,000 turkeys coming in for Thanksgiving."

On Friday, Toms River will celebrate its 85th consecutive week of food delivery. The goodwill gesture began in March 2020, at the start of a nationwide lockdown in response to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Items to help make a Thanksgiving meal, like potatoes, onions and vegetables, will also be distributed.

No registration is required. Food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Food distribution is performed drive-thru style. Families should remain in their vehicles, while food is placed in their trunk or truck bed.
