"Widespread sub-freezing temperatures and frost development tonight will likely end the growing season for our region. Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories are in effect. Remember to protect your pets from the cold and bring any sensitive plants indoors," wrote NWS.

As if the freezing temperatures weren't cold enough, AccuWeather meteorologists are announcing that through midweek, a storm "notorious for triggering snow flurries, lake-effect snow, and sudden snow squalls" will move across the Upper Midwest, the lower Great Lakes, and the interior Northeast, and will be followed by a blast of air more typical of early December.

"For the most part, the snow showers and flurries will only serve as a reminder of the next season. But some of the stronger snow showers, referred to as snow squalls, could be extremely dangerous for drivers, particularly if they fall during periods of high traffic and cause an abrupt reduction in visibility, according to Accuweather.
