Friday Weather: Storm will Deliver Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

Tropical Storms Franklin and Idalia Pose Threat to New Jersey This Week

Our next storm system is approaching. A powerful cold front, will arrive early Friday morning. A period of constant rain will drench us. At this point, it appears that the "peak period" for that rain will be Friday morning between 4 a.m. and Noon. Showers may last into the afternoon as well.

It's possible that the rain will be heavy at times. Rainfall totals will most likely range from a half-inch to an inch, with the largest totals expected in North Jersey. It's conceivable that thunder will rumble.

The risk of severe weather, winter weather, and/or flooding, on the other hand, is extremely low. A brisk northwesterly wind will increase to around 30 mph by Friday afternoon, bringing in cooler air. Say your goodbyes to the 60s and 70s, as it will finally feel like November.

Forecasters believe the front on Saturday will usher in a wave of colder air, putting an end to our pleasant weather pattern. Temperatures should reach the high 50s or low 60s in the afternoon on Saturday, but will likely drop to the low 30s Saturday night and Sunday morning.
