FREE Hams

According to Toms River Township Government, Free Father's Day hams will be distributed today at the Presbyterian Church, 1070 Hooper Ave., as part of Toms River's weekly food distribution.

According to former Councilman Terrance Turnbach, one of the organizers of the township's weekly food handout, Fulfill, previously the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties, procured 500 boneless, 3-pound hams for families in need.

Some of the hams were distributed yesterday, and the rest will be distributed at the church today, along with fresh veggies, bread, potatoes, and Fulfill food "crisis kits."

The boxes are delivered to Toms River at no cost and contain enough food to serve a family of four for six days.

The food distribution does not require registration and no questions are asked. Food distribution begins around 9 a.m. and continues until late morning or early afternoon, or until supplies are depleted.

The "Pop the Trunk" food donation in Toms River began during the epidemic and has continued for more than two years.
