Craft & Carry Custom of Toms River is organizing a fundraiser for Sophia Colavito, a young girl from South Toms River who has been battling an optic glioma, a tumor on her optic nerve, since February 2020.
The goal of the fundraiser is to assist with some of the medical costs that Sophia's family has incurred throughout her treatment, which has involved repeated visits to
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her journey can be followed by visiting

At the age of 4, Sophia started experiencing severe headaches whenever she got a fever. She was initially diagnosed with migranes, but her pediatrician later sent her to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for additional tests. An MRI revealed Sophia's optic nerve tumor. After her headaches got worse during a flu episode in late February 2020, Sophia was told she had a tumor behind her eye.
The Colavito family has a long road still ahead. A
gofundme has been set up as well for the family to help cover medical, travel, and living costs for the family.
