Halloween Forecast: Dry Skies Expected Across New Jersey, But Trick-Or-Treaters Should Bundle Up

NEW JERSEY — Halloween is expected to bring mostly dry weather across New Jersey this Saturday, giving families the green light for trick-or-treating, fall festivities and outdoor celebrations. However, cooler temperatures will make a jacket an important addition to this year's costumes.

After a stretch of unseasonably warm weather, temperatures are expected to take a noticeable dip heading into Halloween according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday's forecast calls for a mix of sunshine and clouds, with afternoon temperatures generally reaching the upper 50s. The good news for families planning to spend the evening outdoors is that rain is not expected, and winds should remain relatively light.

As the sun goes down, temperatures will drop quickly. Overnight lows could fall into the 30s in parts of New Jersey, making it feel especially chilly for children spending several hours going door to door collecting candy.

Parents may want to plan costumes with warmer layers underneath, particularly for younger trick-or-treaters who will be outside after sunset.

The cooler conditions are expected to continue into Sunday, with partly sunny skies and temperatures reaching the lower 60s.

There is another seasonal reminder for families enjoying Halloween weekend: Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 1. Clocks will move back one hour at 2 a.m., giving everyone an extra hour of sleep.

While this year's Halloween may require an extra layer or two, the lack of rain and generally calm conditions should make for a pleasant evening of trick-or-treating across the Garden State.

The bottom line: Keep the umbrellas at home, grab a jacket and get those Halloween costumes ready. New Jersey's trick-or-treaters are looking at a dry, but chilly, Halloween night according to forecasters.
