Missing: 51-Year-Old Woman with Dementia - Have You Seen Her?

Denice Smith, 52, of Woodland Twp

According to NJ State Police, Denise Smith, of Woodland Township, left her house early on the morning of October 9, 2023.

For almost a week, 52-year-old Denice Smith has been missing from Woodland Twp, New Jersey. She is being sought by the New Jersey State Police. Her relatives are looking for her. In the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, where she is from, police search dogs had lost track of her scent close to a road.

According to Burlington County K9 Search and Rescue, "All day and all night, we continue our search…. Together with Woodland Fire & EMS and Greater Philadelphia Search & Rescue, we utilized our resources to pinpoint possible locations. We covered hundreds of acres and our specially trained canines searched for hours on end. The people of this community has amazingly pulled together on this mission. We hope to find closure for the family."

According to Jersey Coast Emergency News, Denise’s niece released a statement regarding the search.

State police consider Smith, described as a white female, 5 foot, 5 inches tall, 125 pounds, with brown/gray hair and brown eyes, a “missing endangered female” who suffers from dementia.

Family members have also posted in area social media groups that Smith can experience “aggressive seizures” and is believed to have left her home without needed medication, and therefore, “we are all very heartbroken and worried.”

Several days of searches by law enforcement, as well as private parties, have reportedly not yet located Smith. According to family members, Smith, sometimes answers to her maiden name, Denise Johnson.
