Flood Warning for... Southern Monmouth County in central New Jersey... Northeastern Ocean County in southern New Jersey.
As a coastal storm sweeps through the region, another wave of heavy rain and severe gusts is anticipated to hit the Garden State on Tuesday.
Ten counties are under a flash flood warning as of Tuesday morning, while another 11 are under a flash flood watch. Governor Phil Murphy noted that 6.3 million people live in the ten counties under warning, out of a total population of 9.3 million, and that rain totals of four to five inches are still predicted in some regions before Wednesday.
While the risk of severe thunderstorms has diminished, the meteorological service warned that greater wind gusts could emerge throughout the day. The storm's main threat is heavy rain, which could result in floods. Rainfall will be highest along and north of the I-78 corridor, as well as along the northern shore.
A flash flood warning is in force for the majority of the state until 8 p.m. According to the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office, several locations are under flood alerts, which imply impending danger. Monmouth, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, and northern Ocean counties are included in the advisory.
With the strongest rain, flash flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, and regions with inadequate drainage is probable.
