Hurricane Ida is One of the Most Powerful Hurricanes to Ever Strike the U.S. with 150 mph Winds
Hurricane Ida could bring heavy rain and flash flooding to New Jersey
This week, Hurricane Ida may bring torrential rain and flash floods to New Jersey, but it will have a much smaller impact than the storm's surge in the south.
Early Sunday, the storm became stronger and became a Category 4 hurricane. In the northern Gulf of Mexico, it reached wind gusts of 150 miles per hour, and it is projected to make landfall in Louisiana early Sunday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, remnants of the storm will approach New Jersey on Tuesday evening and could produce 2 to 4 inches of rain through Thursday. Rainfall might reach 6 inches in some areas. Flash flooding and river flooding may occur as a result of the rain.
