Identity of Missing Monmouth County Fisherman Revealed

Authorities reported that when a missing fisherman's body was found early on Tuesday morning in the water, it was identified.

According to Trooper Troy McNair, a department spokesperson, New Jersey State Police responded to a complaint of a missing kayaker in the Navesink River in Middletown Township at around 5:22 a.m. on March 26.

According to McNair, Diego Ferreira, 37, of Long Branch, was reported missing on Monday night while out fishing in the Navesink River. The U.S. Coast Guard, Sea Bright Fire Rescue, Rumson Police, Middletown Township Police, and the New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau all participated in the search operation.

According to Robert Boyer, the chief of police in Rumson, Ferreira went kayaking on Monday night near the Oceanic Bridge.

Ferreira was deceased when he was recovered, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
