Injuries Reported After Driver Runs Stop Sign

According to Toms River Police Department, in the North Dover neighborhood of Toms River, a motorist ran a stop sign on Monday, injuring five individuals.

According to Lt. Gene Bachonski, Jane Jusinski, 75, of Toms River, failed to stop at the stop sign on Vermont Avenue while traveling west on Hickory Street in a gray 2024 GMC.

According to Bachonski, the GMC struck a second car traveling south on Vermont Avenue as she approached the junction. The inquiry was ongoing, he said, so details on the second car's characteristics and its occupants, the driver and three passengers, were not immediately available.

The collision caused one car to end up on its side up against a utility pole.

He added that Jusinski and the four occupants of the second vehicle were also hurt. Jusinski was brought to the Toms River Community Medical Center.

According to Bachonski, the driver of the second car and the other three occupants were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for medical attention.

Priced Rite Towing was required to tow both cars from the site, he said.

Jusinski was summoned for disregarding a stop sign.

The road has reopened after being closed for the duration of the investigation.
