Investigation Finds No Evidence of Plane Crash in Ocean County

According to Barnegat Police Department, on Tuesday afternoon, Stafford Police dispatch received a report from Joint Base McGuire indicating the reception of a single Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) signal in the area of western Barnegat.

McGuire officials promptly reached out to Atlantic City Airport, but no ELT signal was detected there at the time.

Emergency personnel quickly responded in response to the single alert, flooding the area with off-road vehicles, fire equipment, drones, helicopters, and foot officers. There was no sign of an aircraft in difficulty despite a thorough search.

The source of the ELT signal remains unidentified, and no further reports of a downed plane or overdue aircraft have been received.

As of Tuesday night, Barnegat police reported that no additional information about a downed jet or overdue aircraft had been located. The source of the signal is still unknown.

The cause of the signal will continue to be looked into, according to Stafford police.
