Lightning Detection System Installed in Jersey Shore Towns

Jersey Shore towns are
activating new lightning detection
systems to protect beachgoers.

Some towns are taking new steps to protect beachgoers from lightning strikes.
Now there is a high tech system following a tragedy last summer.
State-of-the art equipment atop the building shown in this video is giving beachgoers more warning.

The system is now at the South Seaside Park section of Berkeley Township.
This was the same area where a lightning strike in August killed 19-year-old lifeguard, Keith Pinto, who was on an aluminum stand at the time.
Seven others were also hurt at the time of this unfortunate accident.
