According to the New Jersey State Police, a 94-year-old man from Howell died Thursday in a crash on the Garden State Parkway.

Mario Medici was killed when his Honda Accord collided with a concrete divider at the Barnegat toll plaza as he drove south on the parkway around 3:13 p.m., according to State Police Sgt. Philip Curry.

The toll plaza is approximately milepost 68.9 in the township.

Curry stated that the circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.

After the impact, the two left toll plaza lanes were closed for about three hours. According to him, there was little traffic congestion at the scene.
