According to DownDetector, more than 500,000 users experienced Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads disruptions globally on Tuesday.

Approximately 89,000 users reported disruptions on Instagram as of 10:30 a.m. Eastern. That amounted to roughly 13,000 for Messenger and 566,000 for Facebook.

Visitors to the desktop version of the social media site were greeted with the message: "Something went wrong. There's an issue and the page could not be loaded."

Visitors to Facebook said they were unable to connect back into their accounts after discovering they had logged out.

According to MetaStatus.com, "major disruptions" were reported with the Facebook login, WhatsApp business API, marketing API, and Meta Admin Center.

Andy Stone, Meta's head communications, acknowledged the issues on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said the company is “working on this now.”

Update As of 12:04 pm EST: A few hours after Facebook users reported the social media site was down early Tuesday, it was back working.
